First thing’s first! Happy New Years! Here’s to the last year passing and a fresh start!
I had a pretty terribly 2010 myself. The M+M conference, Nanowrimo and getting picked up by Team Grue and XNO being the high points and the rest of it pretty low. Oh, and the Olympics was kind of fun too.
And there’s a lot of low points that I’d really rather not go through again. Honestly, let’s not talk about the rest of the year.
So on to the new year! I’m starting out the year with a promising (I hope) new job, a new phone and entirely too many other things on my plate for my own good. So, looking like a good start. But still, resolutions are in order. And, given that it’s me, the resolutions are really just a 2011 to do list. But still, let’s see what I’m tormenting myself with this year.
- Plan and spec Chimera. It’s an old project I really should have finished a few years ago, but I keep changing my mind on it. Given that I’m not working as a web dev, I’m picking it back up again for SPE.1 It’s going to be a CMS system specifically for cross platform projects, which I have wanted to do for ages. So, spec it out and figure out how I’m going to plan out the coding for it.
- Finish the first Syndicate book. I have been putting it off with the job hunt, but it’s time that I get down to business and finish up the first Syndicate book. My editors have been patient, but I think it’s time that I buckle down and start working on it more. Speaking of which…
- Re-plot Dreamscape. I have had it sitting on my desk for a while. I think I’ve finally figured out how I’m going to restructure the book so that it’s just one book instead of three. Crazy amounts of rewriting ahead, yes, but it should be fun. It was a fun book to work on and, with a little extra research, I might be able to add in some interesting aspects to it as well.
- Edit Sibyl. This one, thankfully, doesn’t quite require the same overhaul and I think I can get both of them done this year. It’s another novel in a different genre written for Nanowrimo a few years back and, dammit, I really need to work on it again. I just kinda do.
- Two Videos a Week! Because I really hate free time, I’m going to start putting up two videos every week. One on Tuesday, one on Saturday. The Saturday one will either be a second Comic Minute, a Spoileriffic! or something else entirely, but it will be two videos a week until I eventually realize how nuts it is to do that with a full time job.
- Move out. I want to move out of the house. If I can keep this job and do well at it, I should be able to move out and finally move on with things. And set up a place to put up all my post it notes all over the walls. It will be AMAZING.
- Create something for Android. I just want to make something small, like a visual novel, and make it work for Android. It would be awesome to just be able to make something like that, even if it’s just a small little story with not much to do. Mostly because eventually I might add a big Android project, which would also be fun.
And, as far as I know, that’s the list! Here’s hoping I get even a quarter of it done this year.
Anyone else with a crazy 2011 resolution to do list out there? We can band together and make this a crazy productive year.
